YOUR DATA, EXPLAINED
Privacy without fine-print theater.
This policy describes the Smelt research prototype at smelt.website. Smelt is not yet a financial service and the site does not accept real gift-card credentials or move money.
EFFECTIVE SEPTEMBER 18, 2026
Project details: Smelt is a pre-revenue product concept and asset package at smelt.website. It is not an incorporated financial institution or licensed financial service. Privacy contact: acquisition@smelt.website.
What we collect
- Anonymous product feedback: ratings, multiple-choice answers, an optional written concern, demo completion time and fictional card count—only after consent.
- One completion record: a random session identifier, completion event and timestamp used only to reject feedback that did not follow a completed demo. Smelt no longer records page views, simulator changes or button-by-button behavior.
- Waitlist information: your email address, only if you actively consent and submit it.
- Contact information: your name, email address, topic and message when you consent and use the contact form.
What we deliberately do not collect
The public prototype has no field for a real card number, PIN, bank account, government ID or payment credential. Do not send any of that information through feedback or contact forms.
Why we use information
We use the completion record to protect the integrity of voluntary product research, feedback to evaluate the concept, waitlist emails for occasional updates you requested, and contact information to review and answer your message. Smelt does not use form submissions to train an AI model.
Sharing and selling
We do not sell personal information. Information may be processed by the infrastructure providers required to host the website and database. We may also disclose information when legally required or necessary to protect the site from abuse.
Cookies and outside services
Smelt does not set cookies, run advertising pixels, embed social feeds or use third-party behavioral analytics. Links to SideProjectors and email applications leave Smelt only after you activate them. See the Cookies Policy.
Storage and retention
Prototype submissions are stored in the site’s hosted database. Completion records are retained only as long as needed to validate research; feedback, waitlist and contact submissions are reviewed periodically and deleted or anonymized when no longer useful or when a verified deletion request applies. Internet transmission and storage can never be guaranteed completely secure.
Your choices and Texas privacy rights
The demo works without joining a list or submitting feedback. You may request access, correction or deletion of personal information, or withdraw from future emails, through the Contact page or the privacy email above. Smelt does not sell personal data, use targeted advertising or profile people for significant decisions. We may ask for enough information to locate and verify a record.
Children’s privacy
Smelt is not designed to collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 submitted personal information, contact us so it can be reviewed and removed.
Changes
If this prototype changes what it collects or becomes a real financial product, this policy must be updated before those changes apply. The effective date above identifies this version.
Questions or requests
Use the Smelt Contact page for privacy questions, access requests or deletion requests.
