THE PROPOSED SYSTEM
How Smelt works.
Smelt’s goal is simple: turn scattered leftover balances into one useful result, while showing the math and preserving an auditable trail.
EFFECTIVE SEPTEMBER 18, 2026
Add an eligible balance
A future production version would identify the card type and request verification through an approved provider. The public demo only uses fixed fictional cards.
Verify before credit
Smelt would wait for provider confirmation before granting irreversible value. A displayed balance is not the same thing as accepted, settled value.
Show the quote
You would see Original Value, the estimated Difference and Smelt Value before deciding. No hidden conversion after commitment.
Forge accepted value
One approved card could be converted, or several could be combined, into one useful balance through regulated infrastructure. Smelt does not currently have those financial rails enabled.
Choose how to use it
The intended result could support direct spending or a cash-out to a verified bank account through approved providers. Both actions are fictional previews today.
Reconcile every cent
A permanent itemized receipt would record the inputs, rate, difference, destination, status and final output.
Original Value versus Smelt Value
Original Value is the balance printed or reported on a gift card. That does not mean a resale or liquidation partner will pay the full amount. Different brands have different demand, restrictions, fraud exposure and settlement costs.
Smelt Value is what could responsibly be offered after partner recovery, verification, fraud reserves, payout processing, support and operating costs. The exact amount would need to be calculated card by card and shown before approval.
This is an economics example—not a live quote, fee schedule or promised rate. Actual terms would depend on contracted partners and applicable law.
What exists today
The public prototype demonstrates one-card conversion, multi-card consolidation, a transparent quote, Smelt animation, spending and bank cash-out previews, an itemized receipt and research flow using fictional data. Real card verification, liquidation, custody, bank payouts and universal spending features are not active.
The standard
See the quote first. Know the difference. Account for every cent.
Try the fictional demo or use the Contact page if you represent a liquidation, issuing, banking, compliance or payments provider.
